10 songs we'd rather hear on repeat than Nelly's "Hot in Herre"

Playing Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” is not a sin. Yes, it’s a generic party song with some terrible similes — “just Kidd-in’ like Jason” — but it’s also fun, especially for those of us who spent countless school dances praying girls would actually take off all their clothes as per the song’s command (they never did).

However, playing “Hot in Herre” for over 24 hours? Yeah, that’s in the gray area between “hilarious radio stunt” and “aural war crime.”

San Francisco’s KVVF 105.7, as part of their brand transition from Latino Mix 105.7 to Hot 105.7, began playing “Hot in Herre” yesterday afternoon. While we here have nothing against Nelly — okay, that song with Tim McGraw was inexcusable — we do believe the station could have gone with a better choice.

Our nominees:

1) That “Pete and Repeat were in a boat..” ditty from nursery school

2) The opening hand-clap bit from Jon Fogerty’s “Centerfield”

3) “It’s the Same Old Song” by the Four Tops

4) “Ride Wit Me”

5) Any song by Foreigner

6) “Ova Here” by KRS-One

7) The last thirty seconds of “Cake” by Rihanna where she only says the word “cake”

8) John Cage’s 4’33”

9) The instrumental version of Tyga’s “Rack City”

10) “What Does the Fox Say” LOL guyz remember when that song was cool eons ago?
