The hip hop world has been awaiting the release date of Lil Wayne’s new album, Tha Carter V. Wayne himself has done a good job avoiding pinpointing a date, and in July told BET he had no idea.
“I think it drops either in September…and then we have…ah I can’t tell you the sneak thing,” Wayne said, via BET. “Anyway, yeah, I think it drops in September, or August, I don’t know.”
There were initially rumors that it could be released on May 5th because Drake said so on stage with Lil Wayne on stage, for the corresponding five numbers, but that date came and went with no albums.
While on the ESPN campus, Lil Wayne announced Tha Carter V’s release date.
From Miss Info:
A night after his “Drake vs. Lil’ Wayne” co-headlining tour stopped in Hartford, Connecticut, Lil’ Wayne made his way to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut to appear on Sportscenter and First Take. Speaking with Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith on First Take, Weezy revealed the fifth installment of Tha Carter V will arrive on October 28.
It will be interesting to see whether that release date holds firm or if it gets pushed back. Nevertheless, we now have a date to expect the album.
