BledJon – The Popular Loner

Jonathan Hopkins, more commonly known as, BledJon is another Bay Area rapper here to break through the annals of Hip-Hop with creative lyricism and storytelling reminiscent of rappers of yore and those lyrical juggernauts of today. His style is a la J.Cole, Atmosphere, Childish Gambino, Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar. BledJon’s new extended play release is entitled, “The Popular Loner” and is thoughtful from beginning to end. He has a masterful ability with his crafting of flows and lyrics. Needless to say he is here to stay with creativity oozing out of his voice, soul, and record. Sometimes you really can say you, “got it from your momma.” In BledJon’s case he got it from both his mother and father considering both were musicians; his mother currently plays and is a teacher of piano, violin, viola, and singing, his father plays trumpet and guitar.

Growing up he was forbidden from listening to Hip-Hop and Rap so his mother kept the station stuck on Soul and R&B, which, in her case is the obvious way to create a Hip-Hop prodigy out of anyone. Now if only she kept in on Fela Kuti he could have been a producer like Pete Rock. For anyone that is into art and creativity and creating music you can remember that one moment in your young formidable years that you fell in love with music for young Jonathan Hopkins it happened when he, “must have been about 5 years old or so and walked into the music store with my mom. I put headphones on and pressed play and it was Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean.” This EP is a musical and lyrical journey from beginning to end and is worth 45 minutes of your time!
