Lady Gaga’s iconic red carpet looks (Let’s indulge on all things shallow)

Every so often in Hollywood, you blink and a star is born.

Such is the journey of Lady Gaga.  A journey that began in New York City in 1986 with the birth of a talented songstress.  With talents that are undeniable and a set of pipes to be envious of, we yet again, blink to re-focus our attention on the girl who has morphed into a bonafide Hollywood legend.

Perhaps the transformation and enchantment surrounding the aura of Gaga comes with her latest Grammy and Oscar win for Shallow which finds the 32 year-old coming full circle in her career.  2008 and her debut release of The Fame may have had her on the precipice of actual manifested “fame,” but it was not without leaving every last remnant of guts and glory on the stages of underground dive bars around New York City where the rubber meets the starving artist road.

Our first introductions to Gaga were rough around the edges – those of only the most theatrical kind – extensions of herself she wanted to make privy to the world.  Though the concept artist inside never dissipated, 2016 would find that notion stripped down to its lowest common denominator for her release of Joanne, until all that was left was simply Stefani Joanne Germanotta.

The 32 year-old singer and songwriter dove in even when the water wasn’t warm, remaining unapologetically authentic, challenging herself to wade through the uncharted territory of the music industry until the learning curve waned.  Behind the deft skill that is involved in the execution of her projects – from concept to roll-out to visuals, there is an artist who never rests on her laurels.

One thing Gaga will never be is a one trick pony, a vapid pop star, or a yes man for the industry.  But I must say this, the recognition and red carpet accolades look great on her and even in all that she is, every now and then we must indulge and entertain the shallow – the Hollywood glamour, that is.

Here is a look back at some of Lady Gaga’s most iconic red carpet moments.

The bold statement heard ’round the world by way of the infamous meat dress worn to the MTV VMA’s.  Though it may be a vegetarian’s nightmare, the cuts of meats were assembled exquisitely.  She addressed the dress post-win during an interview with Ellen stating that “she meant no disrespect to animal lovers.”
