“A 38-year-old 8-year-old with rich n*gga problems
Tell my wife that I hate the Rolls so I don’t never drive it
It took 6 months to get the Maybach all matted out
And my assistant crashed it soon as they backed it out”
One of the tracks released in the lead up to 2016’s The Life of Pablo, “No More Parties in LA” didn’t actually make the cut on the original release of the album in February.
That initially omission was surprising not just because it is a good song, but also because the track features the man many consider to represent the opposite end of the rap spectrum to Kanye: Kendrick Lamar.
While Kanye resides/revels in controversy and scandal, Lamar is that rare artist who is both wildly talented and particularly private. He simply makes wonderful music and, but for the occasional politically charged performance at an awards show, mostly keeps to himself.
Despite denying the public a direct line to his own life, Lamar is still able to be both commercially and critically lauded. His inclusion on The Life of Pablo could only be a good thing, and thankfully Kanye eventually included the track on the revised album.
