After being arrested on weapon and drug charges on April 8, Boosie Badazz was released from Coweta County Jail.
Louisiana rapper Boosie Badazz, formally known as Torrence Hatch, was pulled over on Monday afternoon in a traffic stop near the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia when an officer witnessed a Dodge Charger swerving erratically out of lanes before nearly side-swiping another vehicle on the road.
The arresting officer, Sgt. Jeff Bugg, said he noticed the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle that Boosie, along with passenger Antonio Allen, were driving in. After Boosie was detained and placed in the patrol car, a subsequent search of the Charger found 11 grams of marijuana bagged, a vape pen, and a loaded handgun under the passengers seat.
But wait, there’s more! A bag containing $20,160 was also discovered. Boosie told police that he was talking on the phone which, like most states, is now a misdemeanor charge. The vehicle which wasn’t registered to either the passenger or driver turned out to be a rental coming from the state of Florida.
Both were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm while Boosie racked up an extra charge of failure to maintain lane as the driver of the vehicle.
Born in Baton Rouge, Boosie had his first experience with the system in 2009 when he spent five years in prison on drug charges. That same year, he was indicted for first-degree murder and spent several years on death row before he was found not guilty of murder.
He was released in 2014 and just had his first taste of freedom off of parole last year. Both men now face felony firearm charges. Was the ride worth the cost of freedom?
