Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” is arguably one of the most popular hip-hop songs of all time. From the greatest athletes to former presidents, everyone has had moments where they turned to the anthem for motivation. However, a Michigan dealership’s attempt to sell their truck by capitalizing on the song’s popularity has backfired.
TMZ recently reported that a Ford dealership, selling a limited edition Detroit Lions Ford F-150 pickup truck, was sued. It’s worth noting here that Eminem is not the plaintiff in the lawsuit. The rap superstar’s early catalog is partly controlled by Eight Mile Style and they've taken this action.
So, despite having no direct involvement in the situation, Eminem is still involved in it. TMZ also reported that Eminem is not the owner of Eight Mile Style. The Ford dealership made the mistake of using the song in their ad. They probably thought selling Ford trucks in Michigan, with the Detroit Lions logo, and using Eminem’s music to promote it, would be a recipe for success.

Plus, they probably figured that as a passionate Lions fan and global ambassador for Detroit, Eminem wouldn’t mind the bold move. However, they weren’t prepared for Eight Mile Style. Other than using the song to promote the limited edition trucks, the dealership also added the caption, “You only get one shot to own a Special Edition Detroit Lions F-150.”
It sounds like a clever play on Eminem’s original lyrics, but it landed the dealership in hot water. Eight Mile Style is asking for monetary damages and for the ad to be pulled.
