Kendrick Lamar went into the 2025 Grammys with five nominations for "Not Like Us" and ended up winning them all. The song has done wonders for the rapper, and he continues to reap the benefits. After winning five awards, Lamar has inched closer to becoming the most decorated rapper of the Grammys.
So, let’s take a look at some of the all-time greatest rappers and the number of Grammys they've won to see where Lamar stands on that list.
Jay-Z
The Brooklyn rapper towers above everyone in hip-hop with 25 Grammy wins. He was previously tied with Kanye West, but his writing credit on Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter has broken that tie. After Beyoncé won the Album of the Year award for her album, Jay-Z’s tally went up to 25, making him the most decorated rapper ever at the Grammys.
He also holds the record for most nominations ever received by a rapper with 89 in total. Across genres, Jay-Z has the second most nominations ever, only behind Beyoncé with 99.
Kanye West
Kanye West has accumulated 24 Grammy wins across his iconic music career. He won his first Grammy in the Best Rap Song category for “Jesus Walks.” His first Grammy win for Best Rap Album was for The College Dropout.
Since then, West won three more Grammys in the Best Rap Album category. He's the only hip-hop artist alongside Eminem to win in the category in consecutive years. West has 76 nominations in his career overall.
Kendrick Lamar
Lamar was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance at the 2025 Grammys for "Not Likes Us, winning all five categories. With that, he brought his total tally to 22. Lamar is now third on the list of rappers with the most Grammy wins.
The rapper has won three Grammys for Best Rap Album, with the last one being for Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers in 2023. He has been nominated for a Grammy 57 times in his career so far.
Eminem
Eminem has the fourth most wins of any rapper at the Grammys. The rap legend has won the Grammy award 15 times in his career with 47 nominations. He holds the record for most Grammy wins in the Best Rap Album category with six wins in total. The last time Eminem took home an award in this category was in 2015 for The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
This year, he earned another Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album, but he didn’t win his category. Eminem has been extremely vocal about his disdain for the Grammys. So, it didn’t come as a surprise for his fans when he didn’t win it for The Death of Slim Shady album.
