DJ Quik and Problem (formerly known as Jason Martin) are teaming up for an electrifying joint album, and they’ve enlisted the legendary Lil Jon to kick off the rollout with a bang. The project, aptly titled “Chupacabra,” is set to drop later this year via EMPIRE.

The first single: “Workout”

The album’s lead single, Workout, is a funky, uptempo track that encourages listeners to shake off negativity and boost their mood by getting active. Problem’s lyrics resonate with motivation:

"Express yourself! Do your thing in the mirror and express yourself. We all make mistakes—correct yourself. If you don’t like their style, then dress yourself."

The song also features West Coast hip-hop pioneer Rodney O (of Rodney-O & Joe Cooley fame).

Fans can expect to hear “Workout” blaring through their TV screens during the upcoming months, as Quik and Problem have partnered with ESPN to sync the song throughout the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

A history of collaboration

This isn’t the first time DJ Quik and Problem have joined forces. Back in 2017, they released the album “Rosecrans,” named after the major thoroughfare in their hometown of Los Angeles. The project featured appearances from heavyweights like The GameWiz KhalifaMC EihtDom Kennedy, and Suga Free. Now, with “Chupacabra,” they’re ready to create another memorable musical experience.

In addition to the album release, DJ Quik is hitting the road this summer with Snoop Dogg and Warren G on the Cali to Canada Tour. The 11-date trek will take these West Coast rap legends north of the border, starting on June 3 at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax and wrapping up on June 25 at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. Stops in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, and Calgary are also on the itinerary.

Not long ago, Quik and Snoop attended the ceremonial unveiling of Dr. Dre’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, alongside other hip-hop luminaries like Eminem and 50 Cent.
