Eminem amplifies Dre & Snoop’s “Gin & Juice” ad: A call for new music
Eminem is trending once again, and this time it’s Gin & Juice. The West Coast rap legends, "Dr. Dre" and "Snoop Dogg", recently launched their new alcohol brand that is aptly called "Gin & Juice" after Snoop’s 1994 single “Gin & Juice”. The drink has an alcohol by volume (abv) 5.9%, honouring the classic track that became a party anthem.
But what’s Eminem got to do with it? Well, quite a bit! Let’s break it down.
The Gin & Juice Connection
On Super Bowl Sunday, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg have announced their alcoholic business venture. In a shorts feature, they play armed thieves who are about to dig a hole in the middle of the night. The name of the drink, of course, nods to Snoop’s hit song “Gin & Juice,” which was featured on his debut studio album, Doggystyle, produced by none other than Dr. Dre himself. Fun fact: “Gin & Juice” was also awarded a nomination for the 1995 Grammy Award for the Best Rap Solo performance in the category.
Eminem, the protege of Dre and a legend of Detroit rap, hurried to endorse Gin and Juice. He amplified the ad by sharing it with his massive following: Nearly 41 million followers on Instagram, and more than 22 million on Twitter. Now recall that Shady was signed to Death Row Records by none other than Dr. Dre all the way back in 1998, and then began that infamous and successful Slim Shady chapter.
Fans were thrilled to see the collaboration, but they had one burning question: “When’s the next album dropping?” For four years now, Eminem’s fans have been waiting for another album and the longing has been intensifying. He released Music to Be Murdered By in 2020, produced by Dre and for now, the anticipation for more music is rife
Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg were friends because of Dr. Dre. He helped Eminem and Snoop Dogg become famous. Sometimes they fought, especially Eminem and Snoop Dogg. But when Dr. Dre got very sick in January 2021, everything changed.
Dr. Dre's sickness made Eminem and Snoop Dogg think about their fights. They realized it was silly to argue when their friend was so sick. So, they made up and became friends again.
The duo are teaming up for a new album, much to the excitement of their fans. Snoop Dogg recently shared that they've been working on it for 8 months and are almost ready to release a single. Titled "Missionary," the album has been a long time coming, with both artists giving updates on its progress.
In summary, Eminem’s call to action is clear: “Drop a Damn Album.” As we raise our glasses to Gin & Juice, we can’t help but hope that Dre, Snoop, and Eminem have something special brewing in the studio. Until then, let the music flow, and the juice pour!
