Flavor Flav blasts Jo Koy for Taylor Swift joke: 'The jokes weren't funny'

At the 2024 Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 7, comedian Jo Koy came under fire for his string of distasteful jokes directed at the top-nominated film of the night Barbie as well as guest Taylor Swift, also a nominee at the event.

In one "joke," Koy commented that Oppenheimer was "based on a 721-page Pulitzer Prize-winning book about the Manhattan Project" while "Barbie is on a plastic doll with big boobies.” He then commented, “The key moment in Barbie is when she goes from perfect beauty to bad breath, cellulite, and flat feet. Or what casting directors call ‘character actor.”

His later shifted to Swift with Koy commending, "As you know, we came on after a football doubleheader. The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL: On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift, I swear.”

The jokes fell incredibly flat during the live event with many in attendance appearing noticeably uncomfortable, and they weren't the only ones.

After Swift found herself at the center of one of the most talked about Golden Globe jokes from this year's event, Flavor Flav is showing why he's King Swiftie putting host Jo Koy on blast for the distasteful jokes made during the Globes.

"It ain't an easy gig but he took the easy way to make jokes bout women and Taylor. they ain't never did anything to the host so why the he gotta try to take them down?? The jokes weren't funny and maybe he should apologize," Flav wrote on Twitter addressing Koy's Golden Globes remarks.

Flavor Flav's comments come after the rapper told HOT 97’s Ebro In The Morning that he's a major fan of Swift and dubbed himself "King Swiftie."

“Yes, I am a Swiftie,” Flavor Flav said. “Not only that, but I got a new name now: King Swiftie.” He went on to add that his favorite track by Swift is "Bad Blood," and likened Swift's talents to those of nine-time Grammy-winning artist Mary J. Blige.

"She’s writing a lot about her, you know, experiences that she goes through in life. Just like Mary J. Blige — you know what I’m saying? Mary writes about her experiences that she goes through in life, then when she gets up there on that stage, and she sings those songs, mostly every single woman in that audience relates to Mary.”
