The lights in Allegiant Stadium dimmed on the 2024 Super Bowl, and the halftime show was not the only one that had a spotlight put on it. No, that was a reality show backstage that required its own Grammys award. While this holds true, the battle between Taylor Swift, a pop princess, and Kanye West, a rap icon, has been the subject of constant scrutiny for the past ten years.
The alleged showdown
Former New York Giants wide receiver, Brandon Marshall, recently spilled the beans on his “Paper Route” podcast. According to Marshall, Kanye West had grand plans for the Super Bowl. He snagged a pair of primo tickets, strategically positioned right in front of Taylor Swift’s luxury suite. But Swift, never one to back down, allegedly made a few calls. Result? West found himself unceremoniously booted from the stadium.
"Kanye West pulls up to Vegas. Kanye West buys a ticket right in front of her booth,” Marshall recounted. “He had a mask on with his logo—typical Kanye. Taylor Swift gets (expletive) off. She boom-boom makes a call or two. Everybody’s involved. He gets kicked out of the stadium. He was trying to leverage her celebrity"
The fight that will not end
This isn't new; the megastars have done this before. Rewind to 2009: Remember that Taylor Swift’s interruption at MTV VMA’s where Kanye claimed that Beyonce should have got the award instead of her? The feud remained snoozing until 2016 when West dropped the bombastic line, “I made that b**** famous” allegedly without her permission on his song titled “Famous”. The leaked phone call between the two parties added more fuel to the fire.
Kanye's denial
But wait, there's a twist. Kanye West's camp swiftly (pun intended) denied the rumors. His rep told TMZ that reports of Taylor Swift kicking him out of the Super Bowl were "a completely fabricated rumor." So, did he really exit the stadium? Well, despite Marshall's claims, West was spotted several times throughout the night. Perhaps he's perfected the art of invisibility?
