Kanye West, the iconic rapper and fashion mogul, has found an unexpected ally in his ongoing feud with sportswear giant Adidas. In a recent social media post, West expressed heartfelt thanks to none other than Snoop Dogg, the legendary hip-hop artist, for standing by him during this heated battle.

The yeezy boost controversy

The drama unfolded when Adidas released a new colorway of their popular Yeezy Boost sneakers without West’s consent. The “steel grey” shade hit the market, leaving the rapper fuming. He accused the global brand of creative “rape,” alleging that they were exploiting his name and reputation without proper authorization.

But that’s not all. West dropped another bombshell: Adidas was not only selling what he referred to as “fake Yeezys,” but they were also suing him for a staggering $250 million. To add insult to injury, they hadn’t compensated him for the latest release. West claimed that the company was using legal loopholes and complex contract language to take advantage of him.

Snoop Dogg’s support

Enter Snoop Dogg, a fellow artist and industry veteran. Known for his laid-back demeanor and sharp wit, Snoop took to the comments section of West’s post. His message was simple yet powerful: “Speak ya truth” – accompanied by a thumbs-up emoji. The comment resonated with fans and garnered over 80,000 reactions.

West wasted no time acknowledging Snoop’s support. He shared a screenshot of the comment and wrote,

" Thank you everybody for supporting me in this fight with Adidas. Thank you, Snoop, and thank you to all my fans. Your words are making a difference right now."

It was a rare moment of unity in an otherwise contentious battle.

The call for a boycott

Just weeks before this public display of gratitude, West had posed for a photo with Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden, hinting at a reconciliation. However, any hopes of a truce were dashed as West urged his fans to boycott the brand. He posted an image of the disputed Yeezy sneakers and implored,

" Anybody who loves Ye would not buy these fake Yeezys."

His frustration was palpable as he called out the company’s actions.

“As far as the system goes,” West continued,

" what y’all gonna do now? Take my album down again? Freeze my accounts again? Threaten people not to work with me again? All the new non-approved 350s are corny. "

The rapper’s plea struck a chord with fans who joined him in calling for an Adidas boycott.

In the high-stakes world of fashion and footwear, alliances can shift as quickly as trends. But for now, Snoop Dogg’s thumbs-up and Kanye West’s heartfelt gratitude remain etched in the annals of hip-hop history. As the battle rages on, one thing is clear: the Yeezy saga is far from over.
