The revelation came as Morgan delved into the pages of his genealogy, discovering a familial link to Nas. Animatedly recounting the discovery, Morgan explained, "I turn the last page, and guess who’s sitting there? Nas. Me and Nas are third cousins on my mom’s side."
The bond between Morgan and Nas wasn't newfound, as Morgan reminisced about their enduring friendship. "Me and Esco [Nas] were always tight before that," Morgan shared. He recalled a Comedy Central show, "One Mic," dedicated to Nas' late mother, emphasizing the longstanding camaraderie between them.
The story took an emotional turn when Morgan reached out to Nas with the revelation. Recounting the conversation, Morgan said, "I called him up, and I say, ‘Yo Esco.’ He said, ‘What up Trey?’ And I said, ‘I just did Finding Your Roots. Me and you related.’"
What followed was a poignant moment of shared emotion. "He started crying, I started crying," Morgan revealed. The newfound connection brought forth a heartfelt commitment between the two. "And I said to him, ‘If you ever need me, I’m there, Cuz.’ He said, ‘Cuz, if you ever need me, I’m there.’"
