Lil Wayne recently announced that Tha Carter VI is “guaranteed” to arrive in 2025. Weezy fans have been waiting for the sixth installment of the classic series since he released The Carter V in September 2018. With the announcement of a new project, fans have started speculating about the possible features on Wayne’s album.

One of the most popular names to come up in the speculations was Eminem. The two rappers have collaborated thrice in the past, on “Forever,” “No Love,” and “Drop the World.” And to no surprise, all their collaborations have been massive hits. Although it’s been 15 years since Wayne and Eminem worked together, fans are hopeful that it might happen again this time.

The last time the two GOAT contenders were last seen together was when Wayne hosted Young Money Radio on Apple Music in 2020. Eminem was one of the guests on his show. They have also been very appreciative of each other’s art in the past. When Wayne dropped his verse on Tyga’s “Brand New” in 2023, he blew Eminem’s mind with a bar.

Em then took to X to show his appreciation, “Bro Wayne just said 'got a bunch of zeros like a bag of new funyuns!!' F--K why didn’t I think of that????” While the mutual admiration has been there from the beginning, there used to be a time when Wayne was “scared” of asking Eminem for a song.

Why was Lil Wayne afraid?

In celebration of hip-hop's 50th anniversary, The New York Times interviewed Wayne and 49 other rappers. During the conversation, the New Orleans rapper said, “I was scared, actually, when I called Eminem for a song.” He went on to explain how they have the same passion for hip-hop, and GOAT-tier rappers don’t like to be outdone by anyone.

“That is a monster. He must have the same thing I have with words. Like, we can’t get them out of our heads. Every meaning, every aspect of them. Things that rhyme, we hear it. I already know the gift and the curse that he has. And I love to hear the way he puts it together,” Wayne added.

Both rappers have each other on their ‘All-time greats’ list and have publicly discussed their respect for one another. If they collaborate again, it will be a treat that their fans will cherish for a long time.
