Ab-Soul clears up J. Cole beef rumors in new interview

When Ab-Soul appeared on J. Cole's Might Delete Later project on the song "Pi," some said they were taken aback. That's because Soul and Kendrick Lamar are friends as well as Black Hippy partners, and Cole dissed Lamar on "7 Minute Drill" — another song on Might Delete Later.

Then people thought Soul sent a shot at Cole on his newly released song "Squeeze 1st 2" because of these lyrics: "Metasota warned me they wanna war / But actually they forfeiting."

Some thought he was referencing Cole dropping out of his battle with Lamar because as reported, the Dreamville artist removed "7 Minute Drill" from streaming services after saying he had no interest in dissing the pgLang rapper.

But during an interview on the Effective Immediately podcast, Soul said he's never had a problem with Cole, and the two are real friends. Soul also explained why he was featured on Might Delete Later.

In short, Soul said he recorded "Pi" before "7 Minute Drill" was ever released. But still, the TDE rapper admitted that he was peeved at Cole, because he was supposed to be on his Herbert album but it didn't work out.

"Me and Lyt did the joint 'PI.' I did it for Daylyt. It’s Daylyt’s record,” Soul explained. "I wake up one morning, and Daylyt is like 'bro, check this out,' and he sends me the song ... I’m lowkey hot. Cole was supposed to be on 'F*-- Out My Face,' for real. I’m on [Daylyt's] head like, 'bro, you gotta let me know if you’re gonna send this s--t off. He ate us up, bro!'"

Soul said he called Cole right after hearing "Pi," and Cole told him that he got inspired all of a sudden, and the lyrics to the song just came to him.
