Kendrick Lamar is getting high praises for his newly released GNX album. He's also having success on the charts, because five of the album's songs grabbed the top five spots on Billboard's Hot 100. On top of that, the Compton lyricist has two other songs from GNX in the top ten.

One song in particular that people are discussing is "heart pt. 6," where Kendrick reminisces about his come up with Top Dawg Entertainment and members of the supergroup Black Hippy. The members consist of Kendrick, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul, and K Dot credits Ab with helping to shape his rap style.

"Ab-Soul in the corner mumbling raps / Fumbling packs of Black & Milds / Crumbling Kush ’til he cracked a smile / His words legendary, wishing I could rhyme like him / Studied his style to define my pen," Kendrick raps.

Ab recently spoke about those lines on Instagram Live and explained what Kendrick means to him. "I want to touch on, you know, like, you know, everybody talking about the 'heart part 6'," said Ab. "You know, I’m very honored. You know, that’s my brother and like in real life ... Like, I’ll take a bullet for cuz."

But the Carson, California rapper said he learned as much from Kendrick as Kendrick learned from him, especially when it came to being in the music business. "I guarantee you he didn’t study me as much as I studied him. You feel what I’m saying? He taught me. He taught me the most as a professional recording artist," Ab explained.

Meanwhile, Ab also has a new album that's incredibly strong. It's titled Soul Burger, released on November 8, and it's a dedication to his late friend, Armon "DoeBurger" Stringer, who was killed during a home invasion in 2021.
