When Ab-Soul released his brilliant Herbert album in 2022, it was easy to believe that fans wouldn't be getting another project for some time. That's because six years passed between Herbert and his previous album, 2016's Do What Thou Wilt.

But today, October 17, Soulo shared the artwork and release date for his new album Soul Burger, which drops next month on November 8. He already released the first single "Squeeze 1st 2" earlier this month. Reportedly, the album will be a tribute to his late childhood friend Armon "DoeBurger" Stringer, who was killed during a home invasion in 2021.

"He was my right hand," Ab told GQ a while back. "We were Huey and Riley from the Boondocks. I’m hurt every day. I’ve taken a lot of losses in my life, that one right there was a make me or break me situation … I am not broken."

But it appears the "Hollandaise" rapper was broken even before the tragic murder, because he attempted suicide after completing his Herbert album. He spoke to Charlamagne tha God about it a couple of years ago, and revealed that he jumped off a highway overpass.

"I pretty much finished the album before I did what I did," Ab recalled. "How I’m choosing to take it is — and I’m not giving it credit — but it brought me down to a place where I needed to be as vulnerable as possible, and as soon as I said everything I needed to say, I jumped."

"I lost my teeth," the TDE artist added. "This is a flipper. I ain’t even got my implants yet. My jaw’s f----d up. I got a lot of work to do still. My foot is completely reconstructed, all the way to my pelvis. Everything but my knee. It doesn’t even make sense that my knee wasn’t affected."

The 37-year-old talked about that low point in his life on Herbert as well, and maybe he'll elaborate further on "Soul Burger." We'll have to see. For now, you can listen to his song "Squeeze 1st 2" below.
