A lot is being made of Drake taking legal action against his label Universal Music Group. He filed a court petition against the company last month and claims they used illegal methods to boost streams and radio play for Kendrick Lamar's diss song, "Not Like Us."
Drake threatened to sue Universal for defamation as well, because Kendrick accuses him of pedophilia in the song. The legal filings are nothing short of historic, because it's not everyday a rapper chooses to lawyer up over a rap battle.
For those who missed it, the OVO boss faced a lot of ridicule since filing the petitions, and the latest person to blast him is Charlamagne tha God, who gave him Donkey of the Day on The Breakfast Club. The Donkey of the Day segment is for those who the radio host believes messed up in a major way.
"Whatever the label UMG was doing to promote 'Not Like Us,' they were doing the same thing for you your whole career," said Charlamagne. "If one of those diss records you put out would've taken off and been a cultural phenomenon like 'Not Like Us,' the record label would've pushed that too."
He then had some words for Drake's ardent fanbase, because whatever the rapper does, good or bad, they defend him and seemingly ignore wrongdoing.
"Anybody acting like this is anything more than Drake's feelings being hurt, you a h*e too. An O-V-H*e to be exact," Charlamagne opined. "'He's fighting the same war that Michael Jackson fought. Drake is taking a stand for the art and the artist.' People who are running with that narrative would hold Drake's penis while he pees and shake it for him when he's finished."
Drake hasn't responded to all the backlash yet. Maybe he'll do so in an upcoming song as opposed to an interview.
