Drake had something to say to Universal Music Group and Kendrick Lamar during his Christmas giveaway with Adin Ross yesterday, December 26.
As it's been reported, the OVO rapper has taken legal action against UMG, and accused them of using bots, payola and other illegal tactics to raise the popularity of Kendrick's diss song against him, "Not Like Us." He also threatened UMG with a defamation suit since Kendrick calls him a pedophile in the song.
It's obvious that all of this is weighing heavy on Drake's mind, based on what he told UMG and the Compton rapper during the Christmas giveaway. His message was sparked by his mother, Sandi Graham, who joined him for a brief moment before he gave his speech.
"That’s my mother, by the way," said Drake to the camera. "Any of you guys think you can finish me, from one man to the biggest corporation, you guys will never done me. Are you crazy? The most powerful force you ever seen in your life, me and her together. We can finish anything, done any of you guys off. Trust me."
Neither Kendrick or UMG has responded to his message yet, but UMG denied doing anything illegal or shady for "Not Like Us" when they released a statement last month.
"The suggestion that UMG would do anything to undermine any of its artists is offensive and untrue," the statement read. "We employ the highest ethical practices in our marketing and promotional campaigns. No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear."
