A piece of hip-hop history is up for grabs. The company Moments in Time is offering hip-hop fans an opportunity to own invaluable hip-hop memorabilia, as the contract between Jay-Z and Eminem for the song “Renegade” is available for sale.
As per TMZ, Moments in Time managed to get their hands on the deal that was signed between Hov and Em for their classic song. The memorabilia is available on their website for $35,000. The song was produced by Em, and both the artists signed the deal only 10 days before its release.
Jay’s Roc-A-Fella Records and Em's Angry Blonde Productions were involved in making the deal happen. Both artists signed the document with their real names, which can be seen here.

“Renegade” will forever hold a special place in hip-hop’s history. The pre-recorded track initially featured Eminem and his good friend Royce da 5’9.” At the time, Em had gotten a request for a verse from Hov, who was preparing to put out his 2001 classic album Blueprint. Due to a busy work schedule, Em was unable to craft a new verse for him in time.
With the release date approaching, he decided to give Hov two of his finest verses from "Renegade" but not without asking for Royce’s permission first. During an interview, Royce revealed that Em had missed deadlines earlier for Jay’s request and wasn’t willing to turn him down again.
Royce said, “He hit me up, he was like, ‘Yo, man. What do you think about me giving him 'Renegade?' You cool with that? And I was like, 'S—t, thank you for even thinking about asking, but you don’t have to ask me nothing like that, man…It’s going to be an honor and a privilege just to hear y’all two together on a joint that I used to be on.'”
After that, Em took out Royce’s verses and his parts of the hook and sent it over to the Jiggaman. And the rest, as they say, is history. “Renegade” was the only song with a feature verse on Jay’s 15 track album. It has been one of the most talked about songs in hip-hop history, and it’s always a debate over who had better verses on the song.
