Kendrick Lamar's 'Not Like Us' is all over the Grammy ballots
By Daryl Nelson
Kendrick Lamar's Drake diss "Not Like Us" is the gift that keeps on giving to the Compton rapper.
The Hollywood Reporter shows the song has been placed on Grammy ballots in multiple categories. It's been submitted for Record of the year, Song of the year, Best rap performance, Best rap song, Best music video, and Best arrangement, instruments and vocals.
But "Not Like Us" isn't the only song associated with Kendrick that made the ballots. Future and Metro Boomin's "Like That," which he's featured on, is also being considered for Record of the year, Song of the year, Best rap performance, and Best rap song.
The battle between Kendrick and Drake began after Kendrick dedicated a few lines to the OVO rapper and J. Cole, who he accused of dissing him on their collaboration cut "First Person Shooter." "M--------k the big three, n---a, it's just big me," raps Kendrick on "Like That," a reference to Cole, Drake, and himself being called "The Big 3" rappers in Hip Hop.
The battle ended with Kendrick dropping "Not Like Us" and Drake releasing "The Heart Part 6." Then when the smoke cleared, the general consensus was that K Dot won. But a lot of Drake's fans gave pushback and said the Canadian rhymer was victorious, because he's still one of the world's biggest artists.
However, many of those who said Kendrick won seem to solely focus on the rappers' lines, their overall verses, and the battle songs they dropped.
Another person who's all over the Grammy ballots is Beyoncé for her Cowboy Carter album. Some of the songs being considered are "Texas Hold ‘Em" for Record of the year, Song of the year, and Best country song.
Meanwhile, "Bodyguard" may be nominated for Best pop solo performance, as well as Best pop duo/performance. Plus, Cowboy Carter is on the ballot for Best country album.
