One of the most anticipated hip-hop albums in recent years has been Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter VI. The previous installment of the series was released in September 2018. Well, it’s been over six years of fans demanding Weezy to drop the next one, and that time has nearly arrived.

The “Best Rapper Alive” creator announced the release date for Tha Carter VI in a cheeky, yet hilarious way. As we know, there has been a huge uproar about Wayne not getting the Super Bowl Halftime show in New Orleans.

While all of it has become old news by now, Wayne being "hurt" over the snub also led to a fallout with Kendrick Lamar for a while. Tunechi was called “sensitive” for not being graceful about losing the opportunity, and people berated him — although he had a legitimate gripe.

Recently, the New Orleans rapper partnered with Cetaphil for a Super Bowl ad. In it, he leaned into the unnecessary criticism he had to face for apparently being “sensitive” and used it to promote Cetaphil’s lotion. The tagline of the ad is, “We’re all a lil sensitive.”

Toward the end of the ad, he's asked by someone if they’re still going to the Super Bowl. Wayne responds, “Nah, this is time-sensitive,” while standing inside a recording booth. Then the door closes, and the message reads, “DO NOT DISTURB ‘TIL 06-06-25. CARTER VI.”

His last two albums have debuted at number 1 on the charts, and the expectation from the sixth installment is through the roof. There’s still a four-month wait for the release date but for now, knowing that Wayne is back, fans are excited.
