Megan Thee Stallion has a new documentary coming out later this month called In Her Words. The trailer was released today, and it shows the Texas rhymer opening up about her mother's death, as well as Tory Lanez shooting her in 2020.
She also talks about not enjoying her career, despite being one of the biggest rappers in the world.
"I've decided that I am going to cancel all of my shows," said Megan. "I'm not having fun right now, and I don't want to do it. And I feel like, how can I be Megan Thee Stallion when I’m not having fun?"
It appears that part of the documentary was filmed when Megan first shot to fame. Perhaps, the lack of enthusiasm had to do with her mother Holly Thomas dying of cancer in 2019. Thomas was Megan's inspiration to become a rapper since she was an artist herself.
"Music has always been in my life,” said the "Hiss" creator. "I wouldn’t be here without my mom. My momma was like a gangster rapper. I was like, 'when I get older I really wanna be like her.' That’s when I really started creating Megan Thee Stallion. That was when I was my happiest."
Megan then said her mother's death left her in "shambles," and she forgot who she was. "When life started getting crazy I didn't have her," the rapper explained. Seemingly, the "crazy" Megan spoke about wasn't just related to Tory shooting her, but the backlash she received afterward.
That's because a lot of people accused Megan of lying about the shooting, even though Tory was convicted of it in December 2022. He was later sentenced to 10 years in prison.
In Her Words, created by Amazon MGM Studios, will debut on October 31, on Amazon Prime.
