Mustard and OVO producer Boi-1da had a recent exchange over Kendrick Lamar's Drake diss song "Not Like Us."

Things kicked off when Boi-1da, who produced a lot of songs for Drake, dissed West Coast rap music. "West Coast rap is a-s," wrote the Canadian producer on social media. "Nobody outside LA wanna hear that s--t."

Mustard, who's from L.A. and produced "Not Like Us," responded by writing, "Say it ain’t so man." From there, he posted screenshots of Boi-1da praising the Drake diss song. “'Not Like Us': Good s--t. Beat hard af," wrote Boi-1da, according to Mustard. "You said you liked 'Not Like Us' @boi1da," Mustard then wrote. "Welp there’s enough yellow tape to go around."

Besides "Not Like Us," Mustard produced the songs "Hey Now" and "TV Off" on Kendrick's new GNX album, which debuted at number two and five respectively on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Mustard celebrated the achievement on social media. He also told Billboard that he had no idea when the songs would come out.

“You know what’s crazy? It was a surprise for me, just like it was a surprise for everybody else,” he explained. "I had been thinking maybe it’s going to come at the top of the year, maybe it’s going to come around the Super Bowl or whatever. I’m in the gym working out today and I see him post a snippet of a song and I’m like, 'Oh s--t, this s--t gonna come probably next week.' I’m thinking Thanksgiving when everybody’s in the house together. Ten minutes later, the album is out."

But back to Mustard's back-and-forth with Boi-1da. It's possible that Drake will take offense at Boi-1da praising "Not Like Us." So, if we don't see him producing songs for the OVO boss down the road, then we know why.
