Eminem’s beef catalog is unparalleled. The Detroit legend has gone against a plethora of artists, politicians, entertainers, actors, and whatnot. All of those beefs have been settled one way: Eminem coming out on top. The list of people Em had issues with is so long that his beef with Nelly goes under the radar.

During a recent appearance on Bootleg Kev's podcast, Nelly was asked about his feud with Eminem. In the early 2000s, Em and the Country Grammar rapper were two of the biggest artists in the industry. That was a perfect recipe for a rap beef. The reported beginning of their beef was when Nelly appeared on MTV’s Total Request Live.

Nelly had also been informed by people around him that Em was talking about him behind his back. The rapper threatened Em to not go to St. Louis, his hometown, as the St. Lunatics, his rap crew, would make things difficult for him. Nelly also compared Eminem to M&Ms and said that he’d eat him like chocolate.

After a string of shots taken by the rapper, Em responded with “Detroit Grammar,” aimed at Nelly. It didn’t take long for Nelly to realize that he had made a mistake and called Em to apologize and squash the beef. It’s been decades since it all happened, but Nelly remembers the events like it was yesterday.

“[It was] miscommunication,” he told Bootleg Kev. “I misinterpreted something when I was really, really new. I wanted to apologize to Em … I was at a time where, you know, I’m coming in. I’m the new guy." The confusion that started everything was that Nelly misinterpreted what Em said about “what we were doing.”

That’s when he went on MTV and made the comment. But it’s been a while since both of them moved past their feud. Now, Nelly has nothing but great things to say about the rap legend. He said, “He’s the GOAT, man. He’s so dope. And when that was going on …we was in Detroit and we were at an afterparty and somebody came and was like, ‘Yo, Em wanna come through and holler.’”

Eminem was there with his daughter Hailie and just wanted to meet Nelly. The 50-year-old said that at the time, he “felt like a d**k,” because he had a false image of Em in his head while he was trying to make peace with him. Nelly revealed that he has always been an Eminem fan and has admired his talent. He's glad that they were able to move past the beef.
