OG Maco sadly lost his life yesterday, December 26, in Los Angeles at 32 years old.
TMZ reports that he's been hospitalized since December 12, due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. It's also been said that OG's condition worsened after being in a coma, and he was unable to be resuscitated after going into critical condition.
Doctors were unable to perform the right type of brain scan needed since they weren't able to remove toxins in his system.
Earlier this month, his family released a statement about his condition and said they were hopeful. "We want to inform OG Maco’s fans, friends and supporters that he is currently in critical but stable condition," they wrote on Instagram. "He is receiving the best possible care and we are staying hopeful as he continues to fight."
“At this time, we kindly request that you respect our privacy but if you would like to send us any messages or have anything you wish to get to the family, please reach out via DM," the message continues. "Please note, all official updates regarding OG Maco’s health will come directly from his official social media accounts. This will be the only source for valid information. We thank you for your understanding, support and continued prayers during this difficult time."
Born Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., OG Maco landed on the Billboard charts in 2014 with his song “U Guessed It," featuring 2 Chainz. He was also on XXL's 2015 freshman class cover with rappers like Vince Staples, Fetty Wap, DeJ Loaf, and Shy Glizzy.
Rest in peace, OG.
