Are you as excited as we are about the 66th Grammy Awards, aka the 2024 Grammys? It's scheduled to air live from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and Paramount+.
This year, we saw many popular music artists receive Grammy nominations such as SZA, receiving nine nominations, making her the most nominated artist at the 2024 Grammys. Artists like Victoria Monét, Phoebe Bridgers, and Serban Ghenea all received seven Grammy nods each, followed by artists such as Jack Antonoff, Jon Batiste, Boygenius, Brandy Clark, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift, who all tied for third with six nominations each.
But what about the rap categories? Well, there are top artists like Burna Boy and 21 Savage, Doja Cat, Drake and 21 Savage, Lil Durk and J. Cole, and SZA nominated in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category. There's also Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar, Black Thought, Drake and 21 Savage, Killer Mike, André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane, and Coi Leray nominated in the Best Rap Performance category. When it comes to the Best Rap Album category, you have Drake and 21 Savage for Her Loss, Killer Mike for Michael, Metro Boomin for Heroes & Villains, Nas for King's Disease III and Travis Scott for UTOPIA.
However, the rap category we're most looking forward to is Best Rap Song. "Attention" by Doja Cat, "Barbie World" by Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice featuring Aqua, "Just Wanna Rock" by Lil Uzi Vert, "Rich Flex" by Drake and 21 Savage, and "Scientists & Engineers" by Killer Mike featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane are all nominated in this category.
Now if you were to ask us which track in this category we would like to see win at the 2024 Grammys, it's an easy answer for us. It would be "Scientists & Engineers" hands down. No offense to the other great rap songs nominated, but "Scientists & Engineers" is simply on another level. It's easily one of the best songs on Killer Mike's sixth studio album Michael. It features a star-studded collaboration between some amazing music artists like Grammy Award-winning rappers Killer Mike, André 3000, and Future and rhythm and blues musician Eryn Allen Kane.
From the way André 3000 starts off the track with a deep and poetic flow followed by Future's auto-tuned melodies and raspy delivery and Kane's beautiful singing voice, "Scientists & Engineers" wraps up with Killer Mike's smooth rhyming rap style. It's a song you can listen to over and over again and never get tired of. A song like that deserves a Grammy in my book! But I guess we'll have to wait and see which track wins at the 2024 Grammys.
Have a listen of "Scientists & Engineers" and tell me that's not a banging track!
