50 Cent says he's in no hurry to reach billionaire status

With over 35 million records sold, a tour that grossed over $100 million, major investments, and being a successful TV producer, it's safe to say that 50 Cent is doing okay in the money department. He spoke about his finances in a new interview with Us Weekly and said he's "very, very rich." But when asked if he's reached billionaire status yet, the rapper said he's in no hurry.

"I don't quantify the money like that — I quantify the level of successes and wins I’ve achieved," he answered. "I have far exceeded anyone’s expectations of me. I think my longevity and staying power in the industry have surprised many, but that’s what drives me further. [Besides,] I’m not in a hurry to reach billionaire status. I’ve reached a point where I don’t want anything I don’t have. What’s the rush? I’ve bought every car I wanted, multiple times over."

50 went on to say that becoming a billionaire and letting the public know about it would only create a bunch of hassles for him. Plus, it won't change his lifestyle much since he can purchase anything he wants.

"When people publicly say you’re a billionaire, they come for what you have," 50 explained. "The IRS might suddenly decide they want 58 percent of your money. The ambulance chasers, the attorneys — it’s an army of them after you. Then you’d have to protect yourself because you have deep pockets ... Being a billionaire won’t be much different from where I am now."

But there's a very good chance that 50 will become a billionaire sooner than later since he recently opened his G-Unit film studio in Shreveport, Louisiana, which is a huge move.

In fact, 50 told Billboard in April that he wants to foster talent and give opportunities to those in Shreveport while inspiring the locals there. He received a lot of praise from the city's Mayor Tom Arceneaux for the studio launch as well and was given a key to Shreveport.

If 50 does become a billionaire, he'll join other hip-hop artists like Jay-Z, as well as the embattled label executive and rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs.
