Drake and A$AP Rocky were once cool with each other but that's no longer the case. Who knows? They could be beefing over women since they both dated Rihanna, who's now the mother of Rocky's children. Plus, they've both dated artist and former adult film star Sophie Brussaux, who Drake now has a kid with.
The two men are fresh off sending verbal jabs at each other as well. Rocky on the songs "Show of Hands" and "Highjack," Drake on "Family Matters."
The rappers haven't addressed the beef outside of their songs, but that changed this week when Rocky talked about it with Billboard. The way he sees it, his issues with Drake aren't that big of a deal, and he explained the difference between rap beef and real beef.
"You got to realize, certain n****s was throwing shots for years," Rocky explained. "I ain’t in the middle of that s**t. That’s not how I retaliate right now. I got bigger fish to fry than some p***y boys. It is real beef outside. It is real. N****s getting really clipped and blitzed every day. N****s sniping n****s every day. That little kitty s**t ain’t about nothing."
On "Show of Hands," off Future and Metro Boomin's We Still Don't Trust You album, Rocky taunted Drake about being with Brussaux before he was.
"Call up Pluto, Metro, should've put me on the first one / N*****s swear they b***h the baddest, I just bagged the worst one / N*****s in they feelings over women, what, you hurt or something? / I smash before you birthed, son, Flacko hit it first, son," raps Rocky.
Drake responded on "Family Matters," the song where he mainly disses Kendrick Lamar but reserved a few lines for his other foes. On it, he trolls Rocky over being with Rihanna first and suggests the Harlem rhymer is more concerned with his fashion choices than music.
"Punk sissy from the Northside, Rakim talkin' s**t again / Gassed 'cause you hit my BM first / N***a, do the math, who I was hittin' then? / I ain't even know you rapped still / Cause they only talkin' 'bout your 'fit again / Probably gotta have a kid again / 'Fore you think of droppin' any s***t again," raps Drake.
But there's a good chance their back-and-forth isn't over, because Rocky is dropping his next album Don’t Be Dumb on August 30. So, it's possible he'll have a lot more words for Drake.
