Australian B-Girl Raygun apologizes to the breakdancing community
By Daryl Nelson
One of the last times that Australian breakdancer Rachael "Raygun" Gunn addressed the backlash over her performance at the Paris Olympics, she talked about truly giving her all at the games. But this time, she's issuing an apology to the entire breakdancing community since many of her fellow breakers said she made them look horrible.
Earlier this week, Gunn was interviewed by The Project, an Australian talk show, and one of the hosts brought up the negative feedback while asking if it's valid.
"Yeah, look, it is really sad to hear those criticisms," said Raygun at the 10:05 mark. "I am very sorry for the backlash that the community has experienced, but I can't control how people react. Unfortunately, we just need some more resources in Australia for us to have a chance to beat world champions. Historically, unfortunately, we haven't had the best track record of winning world championships, so I don't think that's just on me."

Gunn was then asked about the accusation that the Olympic selection process was rigged by her and her husband Samuel Free, who's also her coach. As we previously reported, a petition was created on Change.Org to have an investigation launched. In short, Gunn said she was saddened by the claim, and it made her feel worse than the breakdancing backlash.
"The conspiracy theories were just awful," she admitted. "That was upsetting because it wasn't just people who didn't understand breaking and were just angry about my performance, it was people now attacking our reputation and our integrity. None of them were grounded in any kind of facts and obviously they're still circulating."
But Gunn's interview and apology didn't quiet the backlash much — at least not among the people who commented on YouTube after seeing it.
"She said 'people don't understand Breaking' yet the OLYMPIC JUDGES scored her ZERO!!! THEY UNDERSTAND BREAKING!!! She didn't break!" someone opined. "The level of her delusion is Olympic!" someone else stated.
