In the past, Cardi B has been quite honest about why she hasn't released her sophomore LP yet, and she recently did it again while speaking to her 165 million Instagram followers. Cardi's only album is 2018's Invasion of Privacy, and since then she's only released one-off singles and collaborations.
"It’s time to put out the f-------g album," she told her followers. "I have to take accountability for my own self. I have let a lot of the critiques and the social medias and all that stuff, I have let that s--t get in my head for a very long time — to the point that it has made me insecure with my own work, with my own accent, with my own self, with my own attitude."
"It got to the point that some people that are close to me are like, 'I don’t even know you anymore. This has never been you. When have you cared to do this? When have you cared to say that? When have you cared to drop s--t? When have you cared about having an accent in music?'" Cardi further explained.
From there, she addressed the claim that being a mom has been holding her back from dropping the album and denied that was the case. Instead, the 31-year-old chalked it up to her insecurities and nothing more. But Cardi said she's now turning over a new leaf and will be more confident going forward. “I was just so stuck in my head,” she admitted. "I really let the internet defeat my mind, but that’s not happening no more.”
When DJ Akademiks posted Cardi's video, the trolls came out in full force and had negative things to say about her music, but others encouraged the mother-of-three. Plus, there was one person who said she shouldn't open up so much.
"Stop making yourself vulnerable on here!" that person commented. "These people don’t care and will use it against you to make you doubt yourself. Don’t let them win."
