Cardi B's crazy Oscars afterparty altercation explained

The 2024 Oscars have come and gone, but one thing that people can't stop talking about is an Oscars afterparty altercation in which Grammy Award-winning rapper Cardi B was involved. We shared everything we know about this situation below.

This isn't the first time Cardi B has been involved in some sort of public spat or fight. She was previously injured in a physical fight with well-known rapper Nicki Minaj at a New York Fashion Week party in 2018. She's also had beef with other rappers, such as Doja Cat, Azealia Banks, and JT of the City Girls. While the beef between her and Doja Cat was squashed, it's unclear if she, Azealia Banks, and JT are on good terms.

On Sunday, March 10, Cardi B attended Vanity Fair’s Oscars After Party in a beautiful black Atelier Versace Spring 2003 embellished lace gown. While she looked absolutely stunning, an Instagram Live session from the same night revealed that she didn't have the best time at the party.

On Sunday night, Cardi B quickly hopped on Instagram Live to talk with her fans, but she received a phone call from someone during the live. During the IG Live session, Cardi B is seen on the phone talking about an altercation she had with somebody at the Oscars afterparty.

She tells the person on the phone, “I definitely ran into somebody. You know me, I don’t play that sh*t. But I’ll call you later ‘cause I’m on Live. I’ll tell you all the tea on her later. Bye.” While she doesn't specify who that "somebody" was, people were quick to speculate that it was fellow rapper Saweetie.

Rumors of a feud between Cardi B and Saweetie began in 2022 when allegations surfaced that the "Icy" rapper had an affair with Cardi’s husband, Offset, who is a member of the rap group Migos. It all started with some lyrics from the song "Messy" by Migos groupmate Quavo. The lyrics are, “B*tch f*cked my dawg behind my back but I ain’t stressin." Saweetie and Quavo dated from 2019 to 2021, and people immediately assumed that Quavo was talking about Saweetie in his lyrics. They assumed that Saweetie had messed around with Offset since he's not only Quavo's groupmate but also a friend.

However, Cardi B was quick to shut down this rumor at the time. While going back and forth with a fan on X in August 2022, she stated that the cheating allegations were not true. She responded to the fan by saying, "No baby you lying. You makin crazy lies starting sh*t and putting female rappers in it WIT NO RECEIPTS, no blog ever spoke on this all of a sudden you come out of jail 5 days ago and you made up for lied in 2 hours wit NO RECEIPTS!"

Since Saweetie attended the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party as well, many people believe she's the person Cardi B was talking about. Saweetie even posted a cryptic tweet on X on Monday, March 11, which people think is targeted at Cardi. We shared the tweet below.

When asked by a fan who she was talking about, Saweetie responded by saying, “the gworls talmbout my twins.” We're not sure what she meant by this, but she didn't say any names. So, was she really talking about Cardi? The world may never know!
