Six years. That's how long it's been since Cardi B released her debut album Invasion of Privacy. Sure, she's dropped some singles and featured on a bunch of songs since then, but she hasn't given a definitive date as to when her sophomore album would be out.

But on Monday, September 2, The Bronx rapper excited her fans by suggesting in a tweet it would be here soon. Cardi wrote the message in response to Chart Data reporting that she sold over 500,000 total album units this year, despite her second album not dropping yet.

"OKAY OKAY let me stop playing and drop this second album 🤭," Cardi tweeted after writing an explicit message about Invasion of Privacy still selling. Unsurprisingly, her fans had a major reaction to the tweet and said they couldn't wait to hear what the new album sounds like.

"Cardi is coming to save the music industry," wrote one exited fan. "CARDI PLEASE ARE WE CLOSE?! IM SUFFERING," another person let her know, while a third person wrote, "PLEASE we are long overdue for another."

But despite the new album not dropping yet, Cardi's 2024 has been pretty eventful. Last month, the 31-year-old announced she's pregnant with her third child, and she's now in the process of divorcing Offset, her husband of seven years.

Cardi also released two singles this year, "Like What (Freestyle)" and "Enough (Miami)," which only sparked more excitement about the release of her sophomore LP. In regards to why it hasn't arrived yet, Cardi chalked it up to having anxiety, something she admitted on Instagram Live a couple of years ago.

"I do have anxiety," said Cardi. "I've been having a lot of anxiety ’cause I know right after I drop my album I have to go on tour, and I have bad separation anxiety from my kids ... When it comes to the music, I just be feeling like I don't be liking anything. I feel like I got so many songs, I just don't like nothing. Like nothing is good enough."
