LSU's Flau'jae Johnson drops video to 'Came Out A Beast' with Lil Wayne & Kim Mulkey

Flau'jae Johnson's video for her song "Came Out A Beast," featuring Lil Wayne, arrived on Tuesday, August 27, and she included some of her LSU teammates, as well as the squad's coach Kim Mulkey.
Things get underway with Mulkey coaching the team, but the scene was shot specifically for the video, as opposed to director Terrius Mykel pulling actual LSU game footage.
From there, Johnson delivers rapid fire bars in front of bouncing cars before rapping on the team bench. Mykel does a wonderful job of blending Johnson's hip-hop and basketball life while appealing to both rap and LSU Tigers fans.
Toward the end of the clip, Johnson and her teammates are seen celebrating a win inside a locker-room with champagne. Remember, the team won the NCAA Division I women's basketball championship in 2023.
The talented shooting-guard talked about what it was like to work with Lil Wayne in the video, calling it a dream come true. "He’s a legend in the game, and being able to collaborate with him on this track was surreal," she said in a press release," according to Complex. "The energy on set was incredible, and we both brought that fire to the video."
Johnson also explained what it was like to have her fellow LSU team members in the clip. “Having my teammates in the ‘Came Out A Beast’ video was a real moment for me," she stated. "We’re all grinding together on and off the court, so bringing them into this part of my life felt natural. It’s cool to show that connection in a different way, outside of basketball. I’m really thankful they were a part of this moment with me."
As for having Mulkey in the video, Johnson said it shows just how much she chooses to back her players, whether its basketball-related or not.
"She’s always been in my corner, both on and off the court, pushing me to be my best," Johnson explained. "Her support means everything to me, so it was amazing to have her be part of this moment. It just shows how much she believes in all of us, not just as players, but as individuals with our own dreams.”
"Came Out A Beast" is on Johnson's Best of Both Worlds album, which is a 9-song project that was released in July.
