Meek Mill Announces ‘Dreamchasers’ Mixtape Compilation Album, ‘Vol. 1 La Familia’, Paying Tribute to Jay-Z
Meek Mill has announced the release of his upcoming Dreamchasers mixtape compilation album, ‘Vol. 1 La Familia’, which is set to pay tribute to his friend Jay-Z. The album is expected to feature some of the biggest names in the music industry and will be supported by Roc Nation 2.
The album’s title is a nod to Jay-Z’s 2000 compilation album, ‘The Dynasty: Rock-La-Familia’, which featured acts signed to his Roc-A-Fella Records, including Beanie Sigel and Memphis Bleek, as well as Scarface, Snoop Dogg, and Freeway. Meek Mill and Jay-Z are partners in the criminal justice reform organization REFORM Alliance, which has scored some victories across the country in their efforts to reshape the nation’s probation and parole system.
During an interview with CBS' Gayle King, Mill expressed how the agreement fulfills a long-held dream for him.
"Coming into the music industry, of course, there's always the people you admire, there's not too many people I admire on a music level and a business level and on like, as a man level. So doing business with Hova is like, like even when we talk I always explain it to him like that that was crazy, it's a regular day for you but this is a part of my dreams being in this situation"

Before the compilation announcement, Meek Mill had been dispensing advice to his fans via Twitter.
"Being gangsta will get you hurt put in jail or killed …… being smart will get you out of poverty and your family and friends living better,” he wrote. “It’s no comparison, being smart is the only solid way out the trenches… everything else is wide range life risk just to survive!"
Additionally, Meek Mill has recently adopted a different perspective on rap beefs, leading some to speculate that he may be taking sides in ongoing feuds.
