Ever since Method Man broke into the scene with his legendary group Wu-Tang Clan in the early '90s, he's been trying to distance himself from his sex symbol image.

Sometimes he'd do things like hang a tissue from his nose on camera to gross people out. Other times he'd contort his face. Plus, he created a rugged image for himself, as opposed to one considered suave. It's a far different approach from other rappers the ladies swooned over, like Big Daddy Kane or LL Cool J, who leaned into their sex symbol image.

Meth talked about how he's perceived by women during a recent interview on Tamron Hall , saying while he appreciates the attention, it makes him uncomfortable at times. The New York native also said he likes to keep a low profile, which is hard to do with people lusting after him all of the time.

“Ima show it off while I still got it, but here’s the thing, right: I love the admiration. I love it," Meth explained. "Does it get awkward at times? Absolutely. Sometimes you just want to blend in with everybody else and I’m that type of person."

Back in June, the "Bring the Pain" rapper talked about his sex symbol status with The Washington Post and said he wants to be appreciated for other things than his physical appearance, just like some women have expressed.

“Sometimes you don’t want to be lusted over, you just want to be respected," he explained. “The problem becomes when you’re objectified or sexualized. They don’t think men feel that s--t. We actually do. If you’re going to admire the outer portion, admire the inner as well, because I have a lot more to contribute than just a smile."
