Much of the hip-hop community is currently in mourning, because Rich Homie Quan died in his Atlanta home on Thursday, September 5, at 34 years old.

There hasn't been an official cause of death given at the time of this writing, but Los Angeles news outlet KTLA 5 says he may have died of a drug overdose, although that hasn't been substantiated. The Atlanta rapper's family has already spoken to TMZ as well and said they're completely shattered by his passing.

Quan, real name Dequantes Lamar, dropped his first mixtape Still Goin In in 2012. He then grew to international fame after releasing the song "Type of Way," one of the cuts on his 2012 tape, Still Goin In-Reloaded.

He also saw major success with his 2015 single "Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)" and added to that winning streak by partnering with Young Thug in the group Rich Gang, also consisting of Birdman.

But as Thug's career grew, Quan's spotlight dimmed a bit, but he made headlines again after inking a deal with Motown in 2017. From there, he dropped his album Rich as in Spirit in 2018.

Of course, it didn't take long for people to express their grief on social media after news of Quan's death made the internet rounds.

"Brutha I Miss U dawg I’m sicc bro bro," read one Instagram comment, while another person wrote, "I'm so gutted to hear this man ... Glad I met u when u came [to] London ... I was 1 of his Biggest fans." Plus, a third person wrote, "No way, I just saw you. Rest in peace bro."

Baton Rouge rapper Boosie Badazz also shared a heartfelt message upon hearing the news. "JUST TALKED TO YOU BRA πŸ˜“ #tipQUAN Never go forget yo smile n the way talked n of course yo music," he tweeted.

In closing, we here at Rhyme Junkie and FanSided give our condolences to Quan, his family, friends, and all who are affected by his passing. RIP, Quan.
