J. Cole has the internet buzzing right now since dropping his new song "Port Antonio" last night. In the cut, he goes into why he apologized to Kendrick Lamar in their battle. Kendrick sent a shot at Cole in Future and Metro Boomin's song "Like That," and Cole hit back with "7 Minute Drill." On "Port Antonio," Cole said he left the battle because he knew it was going to get ugly.

"I pulled the plug because I seen where that was ’bout to go / They wanted blood, they wanted clicks to make they pockets grow / They see this fire in my pen and think I’m dodgin’ smoke / I wouldn’t have lost a battle, dawg, I woulda lost a bro / I woulda gained a foe," raps Cole on the new song.

He also denied dissing Drake by apologizing to Kendrick. "They say I’m pickin’ sides, aye, don’t you lie on me, my n---a / To start another war / Aye, Drake, you’ll always be my n---a / I ain’t ashamed to say you did a lot for me, my n---a / F--k all the narratives / Tapping back into your magic pen is what’s imperative," spit Cole.

A lot of people gave the song high praises. Plus, there were some who gave Cole credit for dropping out of the battle and choosing peace instead.

"I'm here for the MUSIC...not for the beef," one person wrote on Instagram. "This dude is STILL the best rapper currently on the planet. Yes, better than Kendrick and Drake," wrote someone else. "I forgive you for deleting 7 min drill," a third comment read, while a fourth person wrote, "You all owe Cole an apology."

Now, whether "Port Antonio" is an introduction to Cole's next album The Fall Off remains to be seen. Either way, the song seems to be just what his fans were waiting for: an explanation as to why he left the battle.
