Ever since Diddy was arrested in September for sex trafficking, racketeering, and transporting prostitutes, his 1999 case that also involved former rapper Shyne is being discussed again.

A lot of that has to do with Shyne making the media rounds to promote his new documentary The Honorable Shyne. In 2001, the 46-year-old was sentenced to 10 years in prison for firing a gun inside a New York City nightclub, but Diddy was acquitted.

In one of Shyne's latest interviews, he said that Diddy once came to see him at Rikers Island Jail in New York, and he got upset.

"He came to see me once, and I tried to spit in his face,” said Shyne on The Breakfast Club. "I didn’t even know he was coming to see me. They just brought me down in the lawyer’s office."

Afterward, Shyne — who's now the Leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representative — said he met up with Diddy after being released from prison and thought he was in for a payday. That's because Shyne could've worked with the district attorney to have Diddy convicted in the 1999 trial, but he didn't and thought he'd be compensated.

"I got out in 2009," Shyne told the radio hosts. "There wasn’t an attempt at reconciliation until 2012 when I went to Paris to meet him ... I was still in a place of, he owes me his life. He’s a billionaire. If it wasn’t for me, he wouldn’t have been a billionaire."

"If I would have cooperated with the district attorney, he’d have went to jail, and heaven knows what would have happened to his career," he continued. "So that’s worth at least a couple million dollars out of the billion that you’re worth ... He probably gave me like 50 racks [$50,000], and I’m like, 'You can’t be serious.' That’s 10 years? Fifty racks?'"
