A common belief is that a person should never stop learning, regardless of how much life experience that individual has. That's clearly Snoop Dogg's belief, because he reached out to Kendrick Lamar to help him with his stage show.
The "Missionary" rapper spoke to podcast host Bootleg Kev about it and explained he phoned Kendrick after seeing one of his performances.
"That’s what the game is about, learning and getting information and not being too big to ask," said Snoop. "I called Kendrick maybe a year and a half ago when I was overseas, and I had watched him perform in Paris. He had did a show in Paris for Amazon, and I was so f------g intrigued with his showmanship and the way he had his s--t together, I hit Terrace Martin and I said, 'Cuh, give me K. Dot’s number.'"
“And he gave me his number and I called cuh and I said, 'Man, how the f--k did you do that show? What I gotta do to make my show like that?'" he continued. "And he gave me some simple s--t, but it was so much information in that small conversation that I ended up making my show even better. But that’s me not having an ego and reaching out to someone who’s younger than me, flyer than me, doper than me and got a tap on some s--t that I need to get information on."
Elsewhere in the interview, Snoop talked about Kendrick calling him out on his GNX song "wacced out murals" for sharing Drake's diss song against him, "Taylor Made Freestyle," on social media.
"Snoop posted 'Taylor Made,' I prayed it was the edibles / I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go," Kendrick rhymed.
Snoop told Bootleg Kev that he didn't realize he shared the song. He was doing a joint post with someone at the time, who promoted his Gin & Juice brand. But he didn't realize that "Taylor Made Freestyle" was in that post.
