Sometimes all you have to do is make the request and your wish will come true.
Those who doubt that statement just have to ask X user Jaz Thee Dopaliscious Angel, who tweeted about Tyler, The Creator doing something over Kendrick Lamar's "Hey Now" beat, which lives on Kendrick's GNX album. "I want @tylerthecreator to freestyle on Hey Now so bad," wrote Jaz.
But Tyler didn't just freestyle over the beat, he dropped an entire song and video that he titled "That Guy." "Merry Christmas. Had fun with it," he wrote to the X user while sharing a link.
Toward the beginning of the cut, Tyler raps about performing at Kendrick's "Pop Out" show that took place in June.
"Lil bunny hop out, you seen me at the Pop Out / Pandemonium screaming like they brought Pac out / Stop it with the chit chat we airing out the kickback / Big stud energy the way I get my lick back," raps Tyler.
He rhymes about his Hawthorne, California upbringing as well and does a little reminiscing.
"I was up at Westchester dodging all the high beams / Gardena swap meet, shopping bogus ice cream / I'm a Hawthorne baby, s--t is not warm, baby / Four or five main bitches, I am not yours, baby / All these women is a habit / Boyfriends mad 'cause they thought I was a f----t," Tyler spits.
Odd Future members Jasper Dolphin, Lionel "L-Boy" Boyce, and Travis "Taco" Bennett make an appearance in the video while Tyler dances in various parts of his hometown.
The clip was released yesterday on Christmas Day and already has over 3 million views as of this writing. People praised the song as well.
"My favorite Kendrick GNX song was 'Hey Now," one person wrote. "Tyler's selection of that song's beat only enhanced my Christmas."
"You can tell Kendrick really inspires him. Loving how he’s going back to his roots where it all started, Hawthorne, CA, with some OF members/friends," read another comment. "It’s like a full circle moment. Happy for him."
