Last year the music industry, especially hip-hop, experienced an intense battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Although the battle was known as Drake vs. Kendrick, many names were involved. Barring J. Cole, everyone was against the "Diplomatic Immunity" rapper. A$AP Rocky was also a party to the rap beef.
He took several shots at Drake and received scathing clapbacks. However, now that the feud is done and dusted, and the legal drama is still ongoing, Rocky is taking a new direction, like teasing his new album Don't Be Dumb.
Recently, Rocky took the stage at Rolling Loud where he debuted a new song, probably off his upcoming album. Now, even though it’s unclear whether Rocky is ‘Team Kendrick’ or not, it’s guaranteed that he’s not siding with Drake. But in a surprising turn of events, the 36 year old made a bold declaration.
While rocking the crowd at Rolling Loud with his new track, Rocky rapped, “I ain't on J. Cole, I ain't on Drake, I ain't on Kendrick [Lamar's] side…I choose homicide, they gon' see a different side.” This new stance from Rocky is interesting. It seems like he’s shedding away the energy from the past feud and venturing into a new chapter of his career.

What he meant by choosing homicide is going to remain a mystery for now, but he has made it clear that he’s not going to show mercy to anyone. Rocky has been one of the most popular rappers in the game and has managed to keep a strong hold on his audience, despite his inactivity. And now that he’s turning a new page on his journey, it’ll be interesting to see if he’ll be consistent with dropping new music.
Another thing to look forward to after hearing the new lyrics is how his peers are going to receive it. After all, Drake’s beef with half the industry started with Cole merely mentioning that he, Drake, and Kendrick are the "Big 3" on "First Person Shooter." Then Lamar dropped "Like That," referring to the song and some of the lines from it, and the rest, as they say, is history.
