It's been reported that the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn was raided on October 28. The raid was conducted to rid the infamous jail of weapons, electronic devices, and illegal substances, as AllHipHop explains.
Diddy has been held in the New York jail since he was arrested for sex trafficking and other charges in September. He's accusing prosecutors of using his pre-trial notes against him after they were taken in the raid and handed over.
So, Diddy's lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, is calling for a hearing to have all of this addressed, saying, "This search and seizure are in violation of Mr. Combs’ Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Amendment rights. Moreover, the targeted seizure of a pre-trial detainee’s work product and privileged materials — created in preparation for trial — is outrageous government conduct amounting to a substantive due process violation."
Agnifilo also responded to prosecutors' claim that Diddy's notes showed he paid his former group member Kalenna Harper to defend him after he was sued by singer Dawn Richard.
"This is a matter of grave concern that, most respectfully, must be addressed immediately," said Agnifilo. "The defense had never been told that Mr. Combs’ notes were taken from his cell, that these notes were given to the U.S. Attorney’s Office and these notes were then given to the trial prosecutors in this case, who then used this material in a filing to keep Mr. Combs detained."
Richard sued Diddy in September, just a few days before his sex trafficking arrest, accusing the 55-year-old of sexual assault, not paying her enough, and abuse of power.
Then in October, Harper sat down for an interview with Breakbeat Media and suggested that Richard is suing Diddy just to get a payday. "I will say broke m-----f------s will do anything for money, and I just want what she saying to be the truth 'cause I’m confused," said Harper in part.
Now, we'll have to see if Agnifilo gets that new hearing he wants.
