There's still plenty of discussion surrounding Drake taking legal action against Spotify, as well as Universal Music Group, and DJ Akademiks is one of the latest to weigh in.

Drake has accused UMG and Spotify of popularizing Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" diss song against him by using bots, payola, and other unscrupulous tactics. Both UMG and Spotify denied the claim, with the streaming site responding last week.

"The predicate of petitioner’s entire request for discovery from Spotify is false," wrote one of Spotify's lawyers in a filing. That person also called Drake's accusation "far-fetched" and "speculative." "Spotify and UMG have never had any such arrangement," the lawyer added.

Drake's legal team rattled off their response soon after, writing, "It is not surprising that Spotify is trying to distance themselves from UMG’s allegedly manipulative practices to artificially inflate streaming numbers on behalf of one of its other artists. If Spotify and UMG have nothing to hide then they should be perfectly fine complying with this basic discovery request."

DJ Akademiks addressed the back-and-forth during a recent livestream and said Drake will ruin his career if he keeps going against UMG — the parent company to his label Republic Records. Kendrick's label Interscope is under the UMG umbrella as well.

"Drake's legal team is following up as if they're really that serious," said Akademiks. "I really, to my core and my heart, I don't believe that Drake is serious with this lawsuit. I haven't talked to him about it, he hasn't said nothing to me about it. The reason why I'm saying it is because as much as I like Drake's music, I think if Drake goes to war with UMG, he's getting washed. I'm sorry, Drake is not bigger than the program."
