GloRilla taps some of the biggest female rappers in the game for 'Glorious' album
By Daryl Nelson
Ever since GloRilla dropped her hit single "F.N.F. (Let's Go)" in 2022, she's delivered one musical banger after another. But considering all of the noise the Memphis rhymer made so far, she's yet to release her debut album. However, that'll change this Friday, October 11, when she releases her first LP Glorious.
The 25-year-old announced the tracklist Monday on Instagram, and there's a who's-who of female rappers featured. For example, Sexyy Red appears on the cut "Whatchu Kno About Me," Megan Thee Stallion jumped on the song "How I Look," and Latto is on "Procedure."
Other guest features include Muni Long, BossMan Dlow, T-Pain, Fridayy, and Kirk Franklin, who was GloRilla's favorite gospel artist while she was growing up. They met at the Grammys last year, and Franklin took to her right away.
"I fell in love with her personality," he told The New York Times. "She’s just a charismatic little girl looking like her first time in Disney World. I was attracted to the purity, the spirit, of her desire to work with me."
In another part of that interview, GloRilla said she had to change directions while making the album, because she started pulling away from the sound that brought her success.
"Last year, when I was first working on my album, I was just trying to make everything big, and I had to catch myself," she told The New York Times. "I wanted to start reaching out to like, international artists, and make big-sounding songs, and the Memphis type of beats is what people like to hear from me."
But eventually, the talented rhymer made the album she wanted to make and said it's nothing short of stupendous. "Just listen to my album from front to back & wowww i really put together a classic album," GloRilla tweeted in September.
