Jelly Roll says he's dying to work with GloRilla
By Daryl Nelson
Despite all of the buzz she's created so far, GloRilla just dropped her debut album Glorious on Friday, October 11. While it's safe to say that people are still digesting the album, Jelly Roll has already given it a stellar review. Not only that, he told GloRilla that he wants to collaborate with her.
"Yoooo @GloTheofficial your album is amazing - please put me on the next one," tweeted Jelly on Monday, October 14. "I know we kept barely missing each other in LA but the next one we gotta lock in. So happy for you and your success . You deserve all the good coming your way. Praying for y’all and sending love."
As we reported shortly before the album dropped, GloRilla recruited some of hip-hop's biggest female rappers for the LP. Latto appears on the song "Procedure," Megan Thee Stallion is on "How I Look," and Sexyy Red is on "Whatchu Kno About Me," which samples Boosie Badazz's 2007 classic "Wipe Me Down."
The video for "Whatchu Kno About Me" dropped on the same day Glorious was released, and it shows Sexxy and Glo having a high old time in a hair salon. Boosie is also in the video and shows off his comedic acting skills.
Based on their reactions, people enjoyed the video and love the song. "Glorilla aint letting go hits after hits," one comment read. "Glorilla stay dropping banger after banger! Sexxy Red went in HAM too! " someone else weighed in.
Plus, one person said the collaboration is a big win for female rappers, because GloRilla and Sexxy partnered up instead of dissing each other in competition.
"I remember when Sexxy Redd first blew up, people tried to put her against Glorilla, just like they always do, trying to make women compete with each other," that person wrote. "But now, here we are, they’re both on Glorilla’s album, and that just makes me so d--n happy. It’s dope to see them collabing instead of being dragged into that narrative. Growth, unity, and breaking out of that b------t competition they try to push on women in the industry."
Next, it'll be interesting to see what that GloRilla, Jelly Roll collab sounds like, assuming it happens.
