For those who say that hip-hop music lacks the proper amount of weirdness at times, they need to look no further than the visuals for A$AP Rocky's new "Tailor Swif" single. Right away, viewers are brought into the rapper's strange world, which shows a dog driving and a naked guy smoking on the hood.
Then the scene switches to a bathroom, where there's quick shots of two people playing cards in a stall, someone busting out a breakdancing move, while another person uses a urinal as he stands on his head. There's even a Bigfoot looking character, and all of that is shown in the first 31 seconds of the video.
Rocky eventually joins some of those characters at a block party where a dolphin is seen swimming in a puddle, a cow-looking animal dangles from a helicopter, and a portable bathroom crashes to the ground. Undoubtedly, Rocky and the directors, Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, dug deep into their creative bag and pulled out some impressive results.
In a tweet, sent on Thursday, August 29, the Harlem rapper explained why he released "Tailor Swif" ahead of schedule. "SINCE U DUMMIES LEAKED IT ALREADY," he wrote.
The single is part of the roll out for Rocky's new album Don't Be Dumb, which was slated to come out today, Friday, August 30. But he had to push it back because of pesky album leaks. "LEAKS & SAMPLE CLEARANCES ARE DISRUPTING THE ALBUM," Rocky tweeted earlier this month. "ITS BEEN 6 YEARS & I WANNA MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. IM SORRY FOR THE WAIT."
Based on the “Tailor Swif" single, the wait for Don't Be Dumb should be worth it, as the 35-year-old sounds energized on the cut while delivering some well-worded trash-talk.
"Eating lamb chops on the block when we was broke / Even when I was poor, I was out here eating goats / Mary had a lil' lamb, but my momma need a coat / Yeah, I had a Shearling and a Gucci link at four years old," he raps.
