The chatter is loud and continuous over Kendrick Lamar being selected to play the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX this coming February. The game will be held in New Orleans' Caesars Superdome, and many said that Lil Wayne should've been chosen since he's a native of the southern city.
A lot of people brought up Drake as well, Kendrick's archnemesis, and believe the Compton rapper will perform "Not Like Us" at the show, a song where he calls Drake a pedophile and a colonizer. Today, Charlamagne tha God gave his opinion on the whole thing and believes Drake has already taken legal steps to keep the song from being performed.
"If he does ‘Not Like Us’ at the Super Bowl, I want the opening chords and then just the hook,” said Charlamagne on The Breakfast Club, Monday, September 9. “If you think that the NFL and Roc Nation and a bunch of other people didn't get a whole bunch of legal letters yesterday from people with owls as their stamp. I promise you, you're not calling me a pedophile at the Super Bowl. I guarantee you, the OVO people sent so many legal letters yesterday.”
Some of those who disagree with Kendrick playing the Super Bowl include Cam'ron, Master P, Boosie Badazz, and DJ Akademiks. All of them said that Wayne should be the headliner and blasted Jay-Z, who's company Roc Nation is involved in the selection process. But Funkmaster Flex defended Jay and told people to back off. He then blamed the NFL.
"WE GOTTA STOP BLAMING JAYZ FOR EVERYTHING," Flex tweeted in all caps. "THE NFL HAS NEVER CARED ABOUT PEOPLE OF COLOR. (BEFORE JAYZ) (BEFORE COLLIN) THE NFL HAS ACCOMPLISHED TURNING US AGAINST EACH OTHER! THIS WOULDNT OF HAPPENED IN TAYLOR SWIFT’S HOME TOWN! LIL WAYNE LEGACY ALREADY WRITTEN IN STONE!"
