For the most part, it seemed that Latto and her father Shayne Stephens had a close relationship, but that's not the case, according to a message that Latto posted on social media. In short, the "Big Energy" rapper said her dad is guilty of theft, and he accused her of being in a much-talked-about secret society.
"My dad steals from me & tell everyone I'm in the Illuminati," wrote Latto. Of course, people flooded social media with questions and comments afterward. "I thought they were tight," someone tweeted. "I always wondered what really happened," wrote a second person. "She mentioned it in a song a while ago and left it at that."
It seems that second person is referring to Latto's song "No Hook," off her debut album Queen of da Souf where she raps, "I came home from school and seen bags, hella drugs / Lost the bond with my daddy for some money and a buzz / Swear the industry the devil, s**t, it is what it was."
In related news, Billboard reported that Latto's latest album Sugar Honey Iced Tea debuted at number 1 on the Top Rap Albums chart, selling 29,000 equivalent album units between August 9 and August 15. It's the first time the 25-year-old reached the top spot on that chart.
Not too long ago, some of Nicki Minaj's and Ice Spice's fans clowned Latto after HITS Daily Double said her album would be number 17 on the Billboard 200. The LP actually grabbed the number 15 position, so the forecast was a bit off. Latto has beefed with Nicki and Ice in the past, hence the mean comments.
But back to the accusation that Latto made about her father. He hasn't responded yet, nor has Latto given details as to why she accused him of stealing. And who knows what that Illuminati thing is all about? Perhaps, the rapper's claim will eventually force her father to defend himself or explain. Let's wait and see.
